2020 Presidential Candidates Are Coming to Iowa

As the first-in-the-nation caucus state, Iowa gets a lot of attention from presidential candidates. The Iowa caucus season is already in full swing, with several 2020 hopefuls recently tossing their names into the ring: Elizabeth Warren, Julian Castro, Kirsten Gillibrand, and Tulsi Gabbard to name a few. Undeclared yet notables like Jeff Merkley and Eric Swalwell have visited Iowa, too.

Children’s Policy Coalition Members have already been out on the campaign trail. We’re tracking down all the candidates we can find and talking to them about children and family policies. Every Child Matters program manager Jill Applegate had a quick chat and photo with Senator Elizabeth Warren on January 5th, 2019, less than a week after announcing her candidacy.
Jill had the opportunity to talk with Congressman Eric Swalwell in Iowa on December 20th. Though he hasn’t announced a bid, Swalwell is considered a potential 2020 candidate.
Senator Jeff Merkley chatted with Every Child Matters about children’s issues on December 20th. Merkley is another likely 2020 candiate, though he has not announced.
